Selecting the most suitable team members is merely the first step in the process of creating a “Dream Team”. After finding and matching the right people it is crucial that you take the next step and begin to include all the other elements necessary to generate a fully fledged “Dream Team”.

Strong Leadership

Every great leader always leads by example and regardless of leadership style; they must exhibit qualities of passion, responsibility and they must take a vested interest in every team member. The team members must always feel comfortable to look to the leader for guidance, growth, decisions and ongoing development.

Common Goals

The achievement of sustainable success in your teams is always dependant on the underlying infrastructure of the teams clearly defined and realistic goals. Goals offer direction to the team and allow them to stay focused on the mission and vision of both their team and the corporation.

A set of clearly defined goals, when properly communicated and understood by every team member, allows each team member to stay focused on achieving the common vision of the team. When every team member is focused on the common cause and they work in a synergistic fashion, you have the makings of a great “Dream Team”

Rules of the Game and Action Plans

Having a crystal clear set of goals that is completely understood and supported by every team member is crucial for creating a “Dream Team”. To ensure that the unified efforts of all team members remains sustainable, it is imperative that there are clearly understood boundaries and areas of quantifiable responsibility. This will ensure that each team member knows their unique and specialized roles and there is no energy wasted due to overlapping of responsibilities or unintentional redundancy.

There must be a clearly defined action plan in which each team members daily activities are described and clear measurement criterion are defined. There must be complete clarity of purpose and absolutely no ambiguity at all.

The action plan must clearly define the following:

  1. Each team member must have an appropriate job title that describes their responsibility
  2. A written contract outlining each team member’s responsibility to the team, in which their job description is clearly defined. This contract must also outline how they will be supported by the team leader and other members on the team.
  3. A systemized set of projects that clearly define each team members responsibility to each project.
  4. Each project must be broken down into an action list with individual responsibilities for each team member.
  5. Individual team members must create a weekly action list that is aligned with the overall Team action list, clearly defining their daily actions and tasks.
  6. The action list is in effect a playbook for the entire team and outlines what must be done each week.

Risk Taking

All team members must remain committed and ensure that their teams are thriving and delivering on their common goals. They must be open to accept some degree of “Healthy Risk”. It is impossible for teams to really flourish and grow if they never push the limits of creativity and performance. To achieve breakthroughs it is often necessary to break with convention and for the whole team to get out of their comfort zones and into a new area of expansion and growth.

Inclusion and Involvement

To become a real “Dream Team” and to be a complete success it is imperative that teams practice the art of including and involving others from outside the team when necessary. This allows the team to enjoy the assistance of people outside the team that may have skills or knowledge not readily available in the team in its current form. Teams must publicize their vision, so that everyone, including every member of the team knows exactly why they exist and what role they fill.

Putting it all together in a systematic way

This presentation by one of the greatest keynote conference speakers and time management training experts will show you that sustaining a “Dream Team” is best achieved by supporting the team with all the tools, training, technology and systems they need to succeed. This will help the leader share control of the team and allow the leader to run the team without being run by the team.

A “Dream Team” can operate without the constant direct involvement of the leader. Any great leader can lead their teams from a distance and allows their teams to operate as independent and separate entities. Building: Dream Teams” is the best way to master your career destiny and is the best system for managing human resources. Together everyone achieves more.
